Celebrate St. Patrick's Day With Shannon's Irish Dad

If you didn't already know this about me, I wear my Irish pride on my sleeve. That is all thanks to my born and raised Irish Dad. I'd like to tell you a little about him.

My Parents' Love Story

My mom, a Northeast Philly native, spent all of her summers working in Wildwood. Over the course of those years, she befriended a few Irish visitors and roomed with them one summer. Little did she know these friends would introduce her to the love of her life. After some convincing, these Irish men, convinced my dad to get out of Ireland for the summer and head over to Wildwood.

My parents were assigned to the same room. Yes, they were strangers and roommates. During that summer, they became best friends. By the end of August, they developed a crush on one other. My dad flew back to Ireland, but continued to write to my mom. Shortly after, they fell in love and he made the big move to America. A few years later they got married, the day after St. Patrick's Day nonetheless, and had my sister and me.
