Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, is in full bloom as the famous tulips reach their peak flowering stage, and it is certainly worth a visit for an unforgettable springtime experience. The star of the spring show is the stunning 600-foot-long Flower Garden Walk, which features tens of thousands of tulips in a thrilling mix of cool purples and pinks to hot reds, yellows, and classy whites.
The tulips are expected to remain at peak bloom through next week, weather permitting. “It's happening! Our iconic tulips are now in peak bloom, astounding us with their beauty and vibrancy. Tulip peak bloom should last through next week, weather permitting. It's the perfect time for a little rest and renewal,” Longwood Gardens shared on Instagram.
The gardens also feature the recently renovated Idea Garden, where thousands of other spring bulbs and colorful container arrangements continue to dazzle guests. Additional seasonal highlights include blossoming redbuds, cherry trees, dogwoods, and native wildflowers like Virginia bluebells, as well as a curated display of Kurume azalea bonsai in the Bonsai Courtyard through the end of April.
To accommodate the springtime crowds, Longwood Gardens has extended its visiting hours. A second special Tuesday opening is scheduled for Apr. 22, with regular hours from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Gardens will remain open from Apr. 18 to May 8 until 9 p.m. on Fridays through Sundays. Timed admission tickets are required for all guests, including members, who must also reserve their spots in advance during this popular Spring Blooms period.
Founded in 1906 by industrialist Pierre S. du Pont, Longwood Gardens spans 1,100 acres and welcomes 1.6 million visitors annually. This year's tulip bloom offers a perfect opportunity for visitors to enjoy the Gardens' breathtaking beauty and seasonal serenity.
