In honor of National Pet Month, the nonprofit BISSELL Pet Foundation is hosting an Empty the Shelters event, offering reduced adoption fees of $70 or less at more than 380 animal shelters in 43 U.S. states from May 1-15. These shelters include several in the Delaware Valley.
According to a Forbes article, Empty the Shelters began in 2016, when it was launched by the BISSELL Pet Foundation and its CEO Cathy Bissell. Today, it's is a national event that has helped place more than 324,000 pets into permanent homes.
Participating shelters in the Delaware Valley include:
- Animal Care and Control Team: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
- Faithful Friends Animal Society: New Castle, Delaware
- Morris Animal Refuge: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
- Pennsylvania Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
- South Jersey Regional Animal Shelter: Vineland, New Jersey
