No matter when you plan to head to the Delaware beaches this summer, you can avoid the hassle of driving and looking for parking by taking advantage of several public transportation options.

Bethany Beach Trolley

The Bethany Beach trolley runs from Memorial Day through mid-September, between 9:30 a.m. and 10 p.m. Drivers take breaks between 12:30 and 1 p.m. and 7 and 7:30 p.m., so service may be reduced during this time.

The trolley runs the length of Atlantic Avenue downtown. It crosses Route 1 and travels west to Lake Bethany, running through many communities between these two roadways. You can flag down the trolley driver anywhere along the route.

Rides are provided for free.

DART Bus

DART's Beach Bus will run from May 19 to Sept. 1 between Lewes, Delaware, and Ocean City, Maryland. Fares are $4 per day. The bus makes multiple stops during the day and runs from early morning to late night.

During weekends and holidays, DART buses will transport passengers to and from Wilmington. The cost is $10 daily to travel between all three counties and $8 for two counties.

Using the DART Pass app is the simplest way to pay and find information about bus routes, transportation times, and more.

Jolly Trolley

The Jolly Trolley operates between Dewey and Rehoboth Delaware beaches on weekends only beginning Memorial Day weekend. On June 13, the trolley will operate daily, from 3 p.m. to midnight, on Friday and Saturday and 3-11 p.m. during the rest of the week.

One-way tickets are $4 for adults and $2 for children age 5 and younger. Daily passes are $8 for adults and $4 for children 5 and younger.
