Construction to Begin on New Wildwood Boardwalk Hotel

After years of planning, waiting, and wondering, construction has begun on the new Wildwood Boardwalk Hotel – The Wild Resort.

Located at 3000 Boardwalk (at Glenwood Avenue), the new hotel replaces a decades-old, deteriorated structure that was once condemned. When completed, the hotel will feature six floors, offering a mix of standard rooms and suites with balcony pools. Additional amenities will include a rooftop pool and restaurant, as well as a street-level cafe connected to Starbucks.

In 2008, plans had been made to renovate the top floors of the existing structure on the property; however, financial difficulties following the economic downturn stalled development efforts. In 2021, the property was listed for sale. According to the Wildwood Video Archive, the listing noted that the site was zoned for BA (Boardwalk Amusement), allowing for mixed use, including retail and hotel development up to six stories.

Over the past week, the roof of the existing building has been removed, and work has started on removing the old facade, according to the Wildwood Video Archive report.

In addition to the hotel project, ongoing development activities include the full-scale reconstruction of the North Wildwood section of the Boardwalk, from 24th to 26th Avenue, with a focus on replacing the surface and infrastructure.
