Philadelphia is gearing up for an extraordinary tribute as the Homecoming 250 Navy and Marine Corps celebration arrives this October and November. The City of Philadelphia has officially released details about road closures, transportation detours, and safety measures to help residents and visitors experience this milestone event smoothly.
Taking place from October 9–16, 2025 for the Navy and November 7–11, 2025 for the Marines, the Homecoming 250 marks 250 years of service since the founding of America’s naval forces. The festivities will include ship parades, Blue Angels flyovers, museum exhibits, and live performances honoring generations of military history and service.
Key Event Highlights
- Friday, October 10: The U.S. Navy Band Commodores perform on the Art Museum Steps from 7:30–8:30 p.m. Expect streets near Eakins Oval and Kelly Drive to close starting at 5:30 p.m.
- Sunday, October 12: The Military & Veteran Suicide Prevention Walk begins at Penn’s Landing and concludes near Independence Mall, followed by the All Veterans Picnic & Victory at Sea Concert at Independence National Historic Park featuring entertainment by Navy bands and guests like Robert Irvine and Rob Riggle.
- Monday, October 13: The Navy & Marine Corps 250 Parade takes over Center City from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., with extensive closures along JFK Boulevard, Market Street, Broad Street, and Arch Street.
Parking and Transit
