A new documentary titled Saquon will premiere on Prime Video today, Thursday, Oct. 9, the same day the Philadelphia Eagles face the New York Giants. Saquon chronicles Barkley's remarkable football journey from his ACL injury in 2020 through his record-breaking season and Super Bowl victory.

Saquon offers a behind-the-scenes look at Barkley's story told from his perspective, including a peek into his family life.

“Filmed over 127 days, over 700 hours, all to capture a movie where you feel like a lot of people will be able to relate to and see a different side of me,” Barkley told The Philadelphia Inquirer. “You get to see the journey it took to get to this point. … No matter how many times things don't go your way, how much belief do you have? I think that's all coming full circle right now.”

The documentary highlights Barkley's mental resilience, his desire to leave a lasting legacy alongside NFL legends, and his ambition to return to the Super Bowl.

Saquon explores the highs and lows of the football legend. In 2020, Barkley suffered a season-ending injury while playing for the New York Giants. Dr. Neal Elattrache, a renowned orthopedic surgeon, reported that Barkley not only tore his ACL, but also injured all the ligaments on the medial (interior) side of his knee, including his MCL, while severing the entire width of his meniscus.

Barkley's recovery from adversity is documented, according to The Inquirer.

The last 40 minutes of the production are devoted to Barkley's journey to the Philadelphia Eagles. Saquon shows viewers the other side, beginning with the phone call from Barkley's agent Ed Berry, that details the running back's desire to take up Howie Roseman's offer to join the Eagles.

Barkley signed a three-year, $37.75 million contract in March 2024 with the Philadelphia Eagles. It further details the Eagles' 2024-2025 season run to Super Bowl LIX.
