On Saturday, Oct. 11, West Chester University's College of Health Sciences will host a free Hands-Only CPR training session in collaboration with Chester County Hospital.

The event, scheduled from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Sturzebecker Health Sciences Center, 855 S. New St., in West Chester, is open to the public and the campus community. A complimentary boxed lunch will be provided after the training session.

This program is part of a partnership between Chester County Hospital and the Mobile CPR Project Philadelphia that's focused on community health education.

According to MyChesCo, the training will teach participants how to perform Hands-Only CPR, operate an automated external defibrillator (AED), and recognize early signs of a heart attack through Early Heart Attack Care (EHAC) education.

Hands-Only CPR focuses on chest compressions without rescue breaths, helping bystanders respond more confidently during cardiac emergencies. According to the American Heart Association, immediate CPR can significantly increase survival chances during cardiac arrest, underscoring the importance of quick action by family or bystanders.

While the event does not offer official certification, participants will gain practical experience that can be crucial in emergencies until professional help arrives.

Interested individuals can register for the event by calling 610-738-2300.
