The GRAMMY Awards show is always fun to watch, and March 1 had its share of winners for 1994 and 1995. Luke Bryan had a big milestone on this day, Jimmie Allen and his fiancee had a baby, and there were several new inductees into the Bakersfield Music Hall of Fame on March 1.
Breakthrough Hits and Milestones
March 1 country music winners at the GRAMMYs included:
- 1994: Whitney Houston won Best Pop Vocal Performance, Female, for her rendition of Dolly Parton's "I Will Always Love You" at the 36th Annual GRAMMY Awards. Mary Chapin Carpenter took home Best Country Vocal Performance, Female, for "Passionate Kisses," and Dwight Yoakam's "Ain't That Lonely Yet" won for Best Country Vocal Performance, Male.
- 1995: At the 37th Annual GRAMMY Awards, Mary Chapin Carpenter won Best Female Country Vocal Performance for "Shut Up and Kiss Me" and Best Country Album for Stones in the Road. Best Male Country Vocal Performance went to Vince Gill for "When Love Finds You," and Best Country Song went to "I Swear" by Gary Baker and Frank J. Myers.
Cultural Milestones
A benefit concert, a big headliner performance, and inductions were cultural milestones for March 1.
- 2017: At The First And The Worst Concert benefit for the Music Health Alliance, Roseanne Cash, Steve Wariner, Sonny Curtis, and Rodney Crowell performed at the City Winery in Nashville. Proceeds from this event helped finance local artists' healthcare.
- 2017: Luke Bryan headlined at the prestigious Madison Square Garden in New York City. This sold-out show also featured Brett Young and Brett Eldredge as openers.
- 2018: The Bakersfield Music Hall of Fame honored their new inductees on this date. Tommy Collins, Luther Davis, "Cousin" Herb Hanson, and Jean Shepard joined this music hall of fame.

- 2019: Kelsea Ballerini's "I Hate Love Songs" received a Gold certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
- 2023: Carrie Underwood headlined the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. Jason Aldean and Brad Paisley were surprise guests.
- 2024: Sam Hunt headlined for his first time at the Bridgestone Arena. Hunt also brought Brett Young and Lily Rose on stage.

- 2020: The "Best Shot" singer Jimmie Allen and his fiancée Alexis Gale welcomed a daughter, Naomi Betti. In addition to this joyful news, Allen's song, "Make Me Want To," hit the charts at No. 1.
- 2021: Garth Brooks had to reschedule his concerts that were scheduled to take place on April 10, 2021, at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina, due to COVID-19 restrictions. The new shows were rescheduled for Sept. 25, 2021.
March started off with big wins at the GRAMMYS on March 1, and the artists appreciate the award. It was heartwarming to see who participated in the Music Health Alliance benefit, and fans were disappointed that Garth Brooks had to cancel his shows for months.
