Get ready to experience a Shakespearean tragedy as you've never witnessed it before.

According to PhillyVoice, a touring comedy troupe condenses Shakespeare's tragedies for contemporary audiences. At the same time, one cast member performs under the influence, leading to chaotic, improvised interactions that keep classic stories fresh for audiences.

The Sh!t-faced Shakespeare: Hamlet performance arrives at the Perelman Theater in Philadelphia for two performances on Friday, March 20, and Saturday, March 21, at 7:30 p.m. This production preserves the core Hamlet plot — royal betrayal and revenge — while adding an unpredictable format, sword fights, period costumes, dramatic monologues, and lively audience interaction.

Shows run under two hours and may include audience participation, with possible beer splashes, close-up engagement near the stage, flashing lights, loud noises, and adult humor.

Tickets for Sh!t-faced Shakespeare: Hamlet are available on the Ensemble Arts Philadelphia website or by calling 215-893-1999. Prices range from $53 to $73.

The Perelman Theater is at 300 S. Broad St. in Philadelphia.
