Iceland ran two large-scale trials of decreasing the work week hours to 35-26 with no pay reduction from. The trials took place from 2015-2019 with the research conducted by Autonomy and the research organization Association of Sustainability and Democracy (Alda) in Iceland.
The trials were a huge success and since then, 86% of Iceland’s workforce have the right and are working less hours. There is now less burnout and and an overall better work-life balance.
