A couple who ‘fell’ in love on a Philadelphia bus are now celebrating 73 years of marriage.
When Roland Scarinci stepped on a Philadelphia Transportation Company bus, the predecessor to SEPTA (PTC became SEPTA in 1968), he saw Gloria and his life changed forever.
“When I got on that bus, I couldn’t believe my eyes. I seen the prettiest girl I’ve ever seen in my life,” Roland reminisced.
Gloria then said, “I was counting my change to pay the conductor and the bus jerked. He was behind me and I fell in his arms.”
“And from there on, it was history,” Roland continues. “I asked her where she was going. She said dancing on 69th Street.” They then jitterbugged the night away.
The couple are now celebrating seventy-three happy years together. The secret?
“One of the things I learned very fast was: whenever she says something, pay attention,” Roland said laughing.
