An intense pool-noodle fight over the name Josh brought in a crowd from around the country.
Yes, you read that right.
The idea for Saturday’s Nebraska park roughhouse all started a year ago by an incredibly bored Josh Swain.
The 22-year-old college student from Tucson, Arizona was looking for some entertainment during the pandemic so he turned to social media. He messaged individuals sharing his name and challenged them to a duel.
Hundreds named Josh showed up at Air Park in Lincoln to engage in the activity.
The event kicked off a “grueling and righteous battle of Rock, Paper, Scissors” between Josh Swain, the organizer, and another Josh Swain from Omaha. KLKN-TV reported that Arizona Josh won making him the true Josh Swain.
The next activity was a pool-noodle competition where anyone with the first name Josh could participate. The winner of the completion was a five-year-old who was honored with a Burger King crown. Swain from Arizona said he was slightly surprised by how much traction the event got. “I did not expect people to be as adamant about this as they are right now.”
