Cup O’ Joy – Russell Dickerson Brought The Best Plus-One To The CMA Awards!
Sarah Frye, a 17-year-old from Utah, was in a terrible car accident over the summer. She and her friends were hit by a drunk driver. She was so severely injured that she was paralyzed from the waist down and had to have a double amputation.
Her school’s cheerleading team, made up a routine to her favorite song which happens to be “Home Sweet” by Russel Dickerson. Not only did her school’s team perform the dance before every game, but the opposing school’s cheerleaders had learned the dance too!
This next part will make you cry, so I suggest you make sure you keep tissues close.
After a video of Sarah doing the dance from her hospital bed went viral, Russell Dickerson reached out. He partnered with Chevy to outfit a car that is accessible to Sarah. It does not stop there. Then, Russel Dickerson invited Sarah to be his guest at the CMA Awards! Not only did she get to be on the red carpet, but she was invited on stage too!
What a wonderful Cup O’ Joy!
