Leslie Hickman, Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) Chief Officer, Revenue Operations Division, discussed the transportation service which covers three states and five counties with buses, light rail, trolleys, regional rail, and CCT Connect. They offer transportation services to commuters, students, tourists and the area’s aged and disabled 365 days a year. She discussed the system, its routes and planned extensions, its online and kiosk services in English and Spanish – in multiple languages by APP – and the economic impact of mass transportation, as an employer, as a people mover connecting workers and jobs, and as a vital requirement for any business looking to open in Philly. We discussed important dates for older and reduced fare riders; as of August 1 Seniors must obtain a photo ID – at SEPTA offices or neighborhood state rep offices to ride for free. By October 1 all reduced fare riders must have a card, available only at SETPA. We also discussed the roll-out of regional rail on the SEPTA Key program.
