Who doesn’t love a quality tv show? Especially a great TV Show that’s based on sports! Since Ted Lasso just released it’s 3rd and final season, I thought this was a perfect time to create a list of the 12 greatest TV Shows based on sports.

Also, we are in one of the best times of the year for sports.  NBA Basketball is getting ready for their playoffs along with the NHL.  The PGA Tour is in full swing and The Masters are just around the corner.  Major League Baseball is in Spring Training and the season starts next week and of course March Madness is underway and is getting crazy.  I can’t forget about Soccer… The MLS season has just started and all over the world, soccer is on fire right now.  The NFL is in their off-season but this may be the craziest time for the NFL with Free Agency.

Since sports are really heating up and I have already made lists about sports movies, I thought I would take it to the small screen. I wanted to stay away from documentary movies because there are sooo many good ones and this list would be super long!

What are the greatest TV Shows based on sports?

• Ted Lasso

  This could be the best show on TV right now.  What started out as a joke for a commercial for the English Premier League on NBC Sports now has become a phenomenal tv show!

  MUST WATCH!

   

• Ballers

  The Rock stars as a professional football financial manager who was once a star in the NFL.  This show is really good because it shows a behind the scenes look at pro player’s lives outside of football.

• Winning Time

  A very good show focusing on the 1980’s Lakers including Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul Jabbar and the owner Jerry Bus.

• Friday Night Lights

  An amazing show based off the movie which was based off a book.  A quality show!

• One Tree Hill

  A really good teen high school drama that focuses are 2 half-brothers who are both basketball players that compete for women, friendship, and just about everything.

   

• All American

  Another teen type high school drama that focuses on a star football player who transfers from a bad school to a really good school. The coach of the new football team and his family take the boy in to live with them.

• Coach

  A classic tv show that focuses on a college football staff.

• Kingdom

  A family full of MMA fighters runs a gym but have many obstacles including alcohol/drug abuse, women, and just overall crazy family problems.

• The League

  A show about a group of friends who are in a Fantasy Football League together and all of the chaos that ensues.

• Eastbound & Down

  A former MLB pitcher who has seen better days.  He is a substance abuser and very obnoxious and returns to his hometown to take a job as a Physical Education teacher.

• Blue Mountain State

  This is American Pie meets Varsity Blues.  It is just a crazy college football party show.

• Cobra Kai

  Fan of Karate Kid?  You will absolutely adore this show.  It is the Karate Kid 34 years later.
