Resolution is a difficult term. The whole “new year, new me” cliché along with New Year’s resolutions doesn’t always lead to the best results. However, habits seem to do the trick. We think that creating healthy habits to live by sounds a little less scary!

Our friends at Virtua Health put together this list of 5 healthy habits to live by for 2023. By implementing a mix of these into your daily lives, you will never have to make a New Year’s resolution again!

Schedule Your Physical

Annual physical appointments are so important for making sure you are as healthy as you can be. They can identify any underlying health issues before they become worse! During these appointments, your primary care physician will do quick screenings such as blood pressure and cholesterol, update medical records, make sure all of your vaccinations are up to date, and ask about your health and well-being. Schedule yours today to make 2023 your healthiest year yet.

Connect With Old Friends

Surrounding yourself with people you love and care about is something that you should always make time for. Especially when it’s someone you don’t get to see as often. Rekindling relationships with people you used to be close with helps you to reconnect with different parts of yourself. And, it can provide a new, healthy perspective on life and give you new goals and adventures. Send that text and pick a date to see your childhood friends and spend that quality time.

Set Aside Money From Each Paycheck

One of the most difficult things of “adulting” is budgeting. It can be tough to balance all of the activities you want to do with the realities of paying all of your bills. In 2023, set some money aside each time you get paid (whatever you are comfortable with). By doing this, you won’t have to stress about spending money going out with your friends or family because it will already be set aside for you.

Prioritize Hydration

On average, adults need anywhere from 3 to 4 liters of water per day. That’s a lot of water! But, drinking water has a variety of health benefits that you might not realize. Water helps with regulating body temperature, maintaining blood pressure, preventing kidney damage, improving skin health, boosting positive moods, and more. So this year, focus on carrying a water bottle around with you wherever you go and staying hydrated throughout the day!

Take a Social Media Hiatus

We know what you’re thinking, “I can’t live without my phone and social media.” But we’re here to tell you that you definitely can. While social media is a great tool that allows us to connect with people all over the world, it can significantly impact your mental health. This year, spend more time away from your phone. Take a quick break from social media or limit the amount of time you spend on it to improve your overall mental health and live more in the moment
