The Andie Summers Show

ARLINGTON, TEXAS - SEPTEMBER 27: Jalen Hurts #1 of the Philadelphia Eagles looks on while playing the Dallas Cowboys at AT&T Stadium on September 27, 2021 in Arlington, Texas.

When you’re on the public stage – a stage as big as the Super Bowl – you might think it’s no holds barred. There are no limits to what media outlets can capture and post no matter how bad you look. Maybe that’s true. But what’s not cool is when a “respected” media outlet recreates a moment that never happened in an effort to smear a player.
That’s what happened after the Super Bowl when ESPN posted a graphic of winning Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes stepping over Eagles QB Jalen Hurts. The graphic is a take on an incident that went viral (as viral as something could go many years ago) of Allen Iverson stepping over Lakers guard Tyronn Lue in the 2001 NBA Finals.
Whaddya think? Cool? No way, ESPN. There’s no need for that.
