Legendary actor James Caan passed away at the age of 82. His family released a statement saying the following:
''It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Jimmy on the evening of July 6. The family appreciates the outpouring of love and heartfelt condolences and asks that you continue to respect their privacy during this difficult time.''
In fact, celebrities around the world are singing the late actor's praises including Adam Sandler.
Also, one of my personal favorite actresses, Kathy Bates.
An amazing filmmaker, Rob Reiner, also chimed in.
So as a celebration of the life and career of James Caan, I came up with my top five favorite movies in order.
5) El Dorado
Despite being over 50 years old, this movie is an absolute classic. The cast is crazy talented with John Wayne, Ed Asner and James Caan, so much talent!
4) Honeymoon In Vegas
James Caan stars with Nicolas Cage in this "comedy" with Sarah Jessica Parker as the romantic interest. I highly recommend this film (not just because I lived in Vegas for four years).
3) Misery
Starring alongside Kathy Bates (see her tweet above), this is an amazing adaptation of a legendary Stephen King book.
2) Elf
You had to know this one would be on the list, Elf is one of the best holiday movies of all time. James Caan so beautifully portrays Will Ferrell's Scrooge-like father that turns into a Christmas-believer!
1) The Godfather
This should be a no-brainer. Widely known by many as their greatest movie of all time, The Godfather will forever transcend time as one of the greatest.
Here's one of my favorite clips from that movie with James Caan.
