Looking for a good read? This list of the top books to read now will definitely satiate your appetite!
Do you love to read? It's something I didn't really appreciate until I had kids and spent hours at home on maternity leave before you could stream great tv. I read and read and read and read and fell in love with books.
Before we get to the list, you know Miranda Lambert is a woman of many talents: singer/songwriter/author. It's Miranda Lambert the author who is heading out on her very first book-signing tour next month to promote her cookbook, Y'all Eat Yet? Welcome To The B*tchin' Kitchen.
The mini tour kicks off at Barnes & Noble in New York City April 25; B&N in Los Angeles April 28; then to her own Pink Pistol in Lindale, Texas on May 9.
Go, girl!
1. To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee
My friend Liz bought me this book for my 30th birthday. It sat on my shelf for years before I picked it up. I've read it several times now and have seen the movie once and the play twice. I cry every time.
2. Girl at War by Sara Novic
My friend Zach's wife is Sara Novic, the author of this amazing book. He suggested it to me when we met and I absolutely devoured it. Sara is such a gifted writer. This book is one you'll love and recommend.
3. The Shack By Wm. Paul Young
A friend suggested this book to me and I wasn't sure. I'm a devout Catholic and something about her description just didn't seem like something I wanted to dive into. I don't want a reason to question my faith. Instead, this book strengthened it. I've read it three times, each time I all out ugly, boo-hoo cry. It's an absolute emotional roller coaster every time.
4. The Hiding Place by Corrie Ten Boom
My friend Julie lent me this book and it was a mess. Pages were falling out and taped together - it looked as if it had been around the world and back again. Which, as it turns out, it had. She has lent this book out to dozens for friends and it landed with me. I read it one more time before I lent it out to several before offering it to another friend's friends, and the cycle continues. Corrie Ten Boom's story will change your life.
5. Billy Summers by Stephen King
Okay - this list just took a left turn. Billy Summers was my first Stephen King book and I loved it.
