Philly Photographer Publishes Books About the Bond Between Women and Their Dogs
Philadelphia-based photographer Kristen Kid has been taking photos of animals and their owners for years. She discovered that many people-especially women- share a very strong connection with their dogs. The women would share very personal stories about how their pet has helped them get through the most difficult times in their lives.
The former social worker was surprised that most of the stories would end the same way, women calling themselves crazy for how much they love their dog.
Kidd created the Woman’s Best Friend Project to help celebrate and honor the amazing bond between women and their dogs.
“I get the honor of people entrusting their most vulnerable stories and their most powerful moments,” Kidd, told TODAY. “I want for that to be shared with a larger community so that people can see that they’re not alone.”
Kid has shared more than 90 stories and is currently taking submissions for her third volume. The deadline to submit is May 1st or until she choses 50 stories. To submit a story, click HERE
The Woman’s Best Friend Project has raised over $17,000 for rescue organizations including the Brandywine Valley SPCA.
“I really, really love creating a space in which people can fully celebrate what matters most to them in their life,” Kidd said. “I always feel tremendously honored to be ushered into that sacred space of what matters most.”
