New Jersey Turnpike & Parkway Tolls to Increase Again in 2023
For the third year in a row drivers who take the New Jersey Turnpike and Garden State Parkway will see yet another toll hike in 2023.
The New Jersey Turnpike Authority adopted a $2.5 billion budget for 2023 which includes a 3% toll increase starting January 1.
According to NJ.com, officials blamed the increase on “pressures on discretionary travel and costs due to an inflation rate of 8.3%, a level not seen in 40 years.”
The increase would take current Parkway tolls from $1.96 for E-ZPass customers to $2.02 and from $2 to $2.10 for cash payers at tolls with one way toll collection. Turnpike tolls for passenger cars on average would increase from $4.95 to $5.10.
The Turnpike Authority commissioners unanimously approved the budget with a 5-0 vote.
