Bride Brings Grandmother to Tears with 1970s Wedding Dress
There’s something really special about a wedding. I’m not just talking about how beautiful it is to pledge the rest of your life with your partner. That certainly is special. What I want to focus on is how special a wedding is to the guests who may not realize how important their influence is in the bride or groom’s life. For example, when I got married, I carried a string of rosary beads around my bouquet. My sister had given the rosaries to me after she and I were involved in a car accident. I remember making eye contact with her as I walked down the aisle and I showed her the string of beads. Her reaction is one of my favorite moments of the day.
Maggie Meitzler was recently married and she did something similar, but on a larger scale. Maggie had her family at her rehearsal. Her mother and grandmother were stationed in the front seats, as they would be during the actual ceremony, and as the wedding march began, Maggie’s father started walking her down the aisle, the congregation stood, turned around, and saw Maggie – not in her wedding gown as it’s just the rehearsal. But what she wore brought one woman to tears.
Maggie was wearing the same dress her grandmother wore when she got married in 1972. The best part of the video is seeing her grandmother’s realization – and then turning to Maggie’s grandfather to tell him Maggie is wearing “their” wedding dress.
The whole thing just warms my heart. You have to watch it all go down … the aisle. (sorry for that one!) Watch:
