Carrie Underwood Controversy: What’s Your Take?
The 2023 Carrie Underwood Controversy. Is it a thing or blown out of proportion?
Carrie Underwood is a major celebrity. She’s an incredible singer, a fantastic songwriter, and has dabbled in acting. But the role Carrie Underwood is most proud of is her role as wife and mother.
Like so many of us moms, Carrie gets excited, and maybe even a little anxious, about back to school. Her boys Isaiah (8) and Jacob (4) are still young enough that even mom gets nervous feels about sending the kiddos back to school with new teachers and a potential new friend group. Will they know where they’re going? Will they get along with everyone? So much to worry about!
When Carrie was interviewed recently, she talked about back-to-school season and her best advice for moms. I took it a little tongue in cheek, which is how I truly think she intended it. But her comments are getting some negative reactions.
In the clip, Carrie said:
“My advice to parents sending their children back to school is mimosas on the first day … I love all the time I get to spend with them, but I also love when they just go to school for just a little bit so mama can have a mimosa and, like, mop the floor, you know?”
So, what’s the controversy? Sounds like any mom who wants to celebrate a few hours without the kids.
Many comments accuse Carrie of being out of touch. They think she has no idea what life for a “normal” or “working” mom is really like. Who can day-drink when they’re dropping the kids off at school, then schlepping to work, and trying to get home in time to get the kids off the bus?
And they’re doing it all barefoot. In the snow. Uphill both ways.
You get the point. My message to you is: Cool it. Carrie was being cute.
