2024 Golden Globes
That is where it all went down. The 2024 Golden Globes are where two massive Star Wars met for the very first time and fans cannot get enough of it. Let's recap a bit here. So our beloved Mark Hamill played Luke Skywalker in the original trilogy, Episode IV, V, and VI of Star Wars. Then, after those three movies were made, George Lucas created to the prequel trilogy, Episode I, II and III.
What's interesting about the prequel of course is that it happens BEFORE the events of the first trilogy however, obviously, the actors are from a completely different generation. For example, someone who played an original trilogy's mother, might be younger than that original character is today, more than likely.
Star Wars Fans Losing Their Minds
That's exactly what happened, Mark Hamill met Natalie Portman! She played Padme Amidala, who ultimately would become the mother of Luke and Leia. Those two characters famously fathered by Anakin Skywalker, a.k.a. Darth Vader!
Here's the photo of the two stars, so cool. Fans are freaking out.
Whoever told you that the 2024 Golden Globes were just for honoring television and film lied. The red carpet is where the action begins. It's where actors, actresses, directors, and more can all shine.
The award show streams on Paramount+ starting at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT Sunday (Jan. 7). Comedian Jo Koy is hosting and the show will have A-list presenters such as Daniel Kaluuya, Florence Pugh, Oprah Winfrey, Simu Liu, Michelle Yeoh, America Ferrera, and more.
"I’ve had [hosting] gigs before, but nothing to this level," Koy told The Washington Post. "So I gotta make sure I bring it."
As for the night's vibe, Koy said that he "just wants to have fun" and plans to treat it like his own comedy shows. Koy is not alone in being a comedian on the host roster for the award show. Past comedian hosts of the Golden Globes have been Ellen DeGeneres, Chris Rock, Billy Crystal, and Trevor Noah.
Nominations For 2024 Golden Globes
As for nominations, there will be another Barbenheimer showdown as Barbie and Oppenheimer are the most nominated films this season. Barbie and Oppenheimer are nominated for nine and eight nominations, respectively.
On the TV side, Succession has the most nods with nine total. "The Bear " and "Only Murders in the Building" follow behind as the second-most nominated show with five nominations each.
The acting awards have some heavy-hitters as well such as Bradley Cooper, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jeremy Allen White, Timothée Chalamet, Matt Damon, Joaquin Phoenix, Robert Downey Jr, Ryan Gosling, Jason Sudeikis, and more are all nominated in their respective categories. Margot Robbie, Selena Gomez, Quinta Brunson, Fantasia Barrino, Ayo Edebiri, Meryl Streep, and more represent only part of the talented female nominees.
Whether the nominees win or lose tonight they can at least have the satisfaction of looking great on the red carpet. Take a look below at some of the jaw-dropping looks of the night.
10. Justin Hartley

A brown suit is not easy to pull off but clearly the rules don't apply to Justin Hartley. The 'This Is Us' star pulled up to the Golden Globes in a tailored brown suit in complete style. The black bowtie was just icing on the cake.
9. Julia Schlaepfer

Julia Schlaepfer looked angelic at the 2024 Golden Globes. The actress gave wore a satin white floor-length gown with a high neck. The red lip, sleek bun, and dangling diamond earrings gave added to the elegance of the look.
8. Taylor Swift

We have no bad blood Taylor Swift. The Grammy-winner wore a gorgeous green gown to this year's award show that sparkled on the red carpet. The singer kept it simple with her bangs brought to the front, some diamond earrings and her signature red lip.
7. Angela Bassett

Angela Bassett once again did the thing. She's always a sight to see on a red carpet and tonight is no different. The two-time Golden Globe winner wore an off-the- shoulder black gown that was to die for.
6. Dua Lipa

Dua Lipa did not come to play. The Grammy-winner wore a strapless black gown with gold accents but the bottom of the dress gave the look what it needed to take it over the top. While we are still waiting for some new music from Dua Lipa, we will take this red carpet serve to hold us over.
5. Jennifer Lopez

There is not a red carpet Jennifer Lopez looks bad on. For the 2024 Golden Globes, the singer and actress wore a strapless pink gown with ruffled sleeves in the shape of roses. JLo's bronzed wavs was giving classic Hollywood vibes and we're not mad at it.
4. Jonathan Bailey

Jonathan Bailey represented the guys tonight. Bailey wore an all-white look and without the black dress shoes you'd think he was ready for a resort. The look was a risk but definitely worth it.
3. Heidi Klum

Heidi Klum is always turning heads on the red carpet. This time she decided to use the color of the carpet as inspiration with her voluminous red gown. The corset top and bouncy bottom gave the gown just the right balance.
2. Janelle James

Whether 'Abbott Elementary' wins or not, Janelle James spoke for the cast with her gown. The actress and comedian wore a one-shoulder velvet gown with a high slit. However, the star of the look was the vibrant floor-length green sleeves.
1. Margot Robbie

Margot Robbie takes the cake when it comes to the best dressed celeb on the red carpet at the Golden Globes. The 'Barbie' star is still in character as stole the red carpet in her bright pink gown and fur shrug. While there is another showdown for 'Barbenheimer' for nominations, we can for certain agree that 'Barbie' won this one.
