A woman gave birth on a Cape Cod highway. Then, her husband cut the baby's umbilical cord in a Dunkin' parking lot!

This was definitely not the delivery plan the couple had in mind, but now it's going viral online and they'll have a great story to tell for the rest of their lives. Somehow, there's even more to this story!

Woman Gives Birth On Highway, Husband Cuts Umbilical Cord In Dunkin' Parking Lot

You'd think a woman giving birth on a highway and then her husband cutting the umbilical cord in a Dunkin' parking lot would be a story on its own--but it got only crazier from there. When you don't have time to plan, and you have to immediately step into action, you might forget a thing or two during the process--including your wedding ring.

Rebecca Mahota and her husband Danya, of Brewster, Cape Cod, welcomed baby Summer on the side of Route 6 as they were heading to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Plymouth. However, along the way, they realized they were not going to make it to their destination. Can you imagine the panic you'd be feeling? Do you go faster? Or do you pull to the side? Danya recalled to People, "(Rebecca) starts screaming, and she's like, 'She's coming.' I'm driving obviously, I reach down between my wife's legs, and, sure enough, I feel the top of my daughter's head." Oh, my! Yeah, there's no flooring it at that point. You're immediately pulling over.

According to WCVB, baby Summer's arrival came only 26 minutes into their 56-minute trip to the hospital. Rebecca tells WCVB, "One contraction later, he had pulled over to the side of the road, I was already holding her head." Later, at the hospital, Danya noticed that his wedding ring was missing. So, he checked the house, car, and hospital room but couldn't find it. Days later, he went with some friends to check the side of the highway where it all went down, and they were able to find it, per WCVB!

Now, mother and daughter are both reportedly doing great. Everything came together as it should. What a crazy journey that would have been! There's no word on if they're going to get free Dunkin' or anything like that. They did bring the chain a bit of extra attention, or as you could call it "free advertising." Congratulations to the new family!

Cort Freeman was born and raised in Metro Detroit. He was named Clarkston High School 2009 Class Clown 13 years after graduating. Totally normal thing to happen. That’s thanks to his time spent as an Intern at Comedy Central and Social Media Correspondent for The Colbert Report. Cort has done comedy across the country, both standing up and sitting down. When he’s not trying to make you laugh on-air and online, he’s probably at home enjoying his favorite shows like Seinfeld, South Park, and The Office. He’s also totally uncomfortable writing about himself in the third person. Cort enjoys writing about comedy, food, sports, and entertainment. So, basically anything and everything.
