Father-Daughter Country Songs That Make Good Wedding Songs

What makes country music so great? In part, it’s the connection that country fans to feel the lyrics, and in the case of singing about daughters, well you can’t ask for a better connection.

If you don’t know me, I’m Jeff Kurkjian from The Andie Summers Show on 92.5 XTU. My wife, Emily, and I found out that we were expecting our very first baby who is now due on August 4th, 2023.

Then, of course, we found out we were having a BABY GIRL! In fact, we used the help of a local middle school to do the gender reveal to the rest of The Andie Summers Show, you can see that video if you scroll all the way down to Brett Young’s appearance on the list.

What Other Country Artists Sang About Daughters?

I already teased that you will see Brett Young here, and also, you will see Tim McGraw as well (maybe more than once). But also, making an appearance is the legendary Kenny Chesney!

  • "I Loved Her First" by Heartland

    “But I loved her first, I held her first and a place in my heart will always be hers.”

    This song was released back in 2006 and will pull all over your heartstrings so just be ready!

  • "I Hope You Dance" by Lee Ann Womack

    Give the heavens above more than just a passing glance, and when you get the choice to sit it out or dance.”

    I think most people don’t realize that his a perfect father-daughter song. Sure, it’s sung by the amazing Lee Ann Womackbut it’s all about a daughter!

  • "There Goes My Life" by Kenny Chesney

    And he cried, “There goes my life there goes my future, my everything, I love you, baby, goodbye.”

    Oh this one just gets me EVERY SINGLE TIME! When he sings that final line, I am toast. Done.

  • "Humble and Kind" by Tim McGraw

    “I know you got mountains to climb but always stay humble and kind.”

    Well, you had to know that this song was going to be on this list. Tim McGraw is an absolute country legend and his storytelling in this one, well it’s perfect.

  • "It Won't Be Like This For Long" by Darius Rucker

    It won’t be like this for long, one day soon we’ll look back laughin’ at the week we brought her home.”

    Darius Rucker is just taking you step-by-step through the milestones of being a girl dad!

  • "My Little Girl" by Tim McGraw

    Go on, take on this whole world but to me, you know you’ll always be my little girl.”

    Another appearance by Tim on this list, but are we surprised? He actually has three daughters so that totally makes sense that he would feel so personally connected.

  • "My Wish" by Rascal Flatts

    “My wish, for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it to. Your dreams stay big, your worries stay small, you never need to carry more than you can hold.”

    This song just always hits all of the feels! Rascal Flattsjust crushing it on this track, better grab tissues.

  • "Butterfly Kisses" by Bob Carlisle

    For butterfly kisses after bedtime prayer sticking little white flowers all up in her hair.”

    Maybe saving the best for second to last on this one. Bob Carlisle’s”Butterfly Kisses” was released in 1997 but it has stood the test of time without a doubt!

  • "Lady" by Brett Young

    “You can always run to daddy, you’ll always be my baby, but look at her, baby girl and you’ll learn how to be a lady.”

    One of the most underrated father-daughter country songs out there (mostly because it’s so new). Brett Young dedicated this one to his amazing wife and daughter.

    Jeff Kurkjian performed this song with a local middle school after finding out that he would be having a baby girl! Watch that video here too!
