New Details Emerge After Mass Shooting At Country Bar
Both the family of the victims of the Borderline Bar and Grill shooting and investigators are still trying to make sense of the terrible tragedy that claimed 12 lives.
In the days since the gunman, 28-year-old Ian Long, opened fire inside the bar, new details have come to light.
According to CNN, the suspect reportedly posted on social media either immediately before opening fire, or after he shot several victims.
In the post, the former marine stated that he realized people would call him crazy, but said all people do after mass shootings is send prayers.
While Long’s social media accounts have since been removed from social platforms, a friend of the suspect said he was unsure what was going on in his life that would provoke him to carry out a mass shooting.
Meanwhile, WISN is reporting that authorities are investigating whether or not Long opened fire inside the bar because he thought his ex-girlfriend was there.
It’s not clear how long the two dated, or why their relationship ended.
Some residents of Thousand Oaks recall unpleasant interactions with the suspect.
One of his high school coaches remembers a few incidents where the then teen was unruly and disrespectful.
At this time, it is not known if mental illness played a factor in the shooting or not, however, an incident at his mother’s home earlier in the year may have been due to Long suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder.
