Last night (10/21) on ABC’s Dancing With The Stars, Lauren Alaina and her dance partner, Gleb Savchenko, delivered a cotemporary performance to “The Other Side,” a new song and reflection of faith composed by Alaina while coping with the loss of her stepfather, Sam Ramker. She danced to the deeply personal song in remembrance of Sam on the one-year anniversary of his passing.
She posted on Instagram, “He was always my champion. He was always my number one fan. Now he’s my guardian angel. I wrote ‘The Other Side’ in Sam’s memory. I wanted to create a song that did him justice. He couldn’t hear me sing without crying because he was so proud of me... I wrote this song so that he can live on, and never be forgotten.”
Encouraged by Savchenko to dance as though she was speaking to her stepdad, Lauren and her partner gave a moving performance drawing 26 out of 30 points, the couple’s highest score thus far in the competition.
