Philly-based “Abbott Elementary” Star Surprised with the Real Ms. Abbott on Kimmel
Have you been watching “Abbott Elementary” on ABC? It’s a great new show that’s getting great critical response. The show is the brain-child of the star, Philly native Quinta Brunson. Brunson’s mother worked for the Philadelphia School District and came home with stories that Quinta never forgot, so the show is loosely based on reality … including the name. Willard Abbott Elementary School is named after Will Smith, whose real name is Willard (Brunson’s nod to West Philly) and her 6th grade teacher Ms. Abbott.
