McDonald’s Offering Free Food with Exclusive McGold Card!
I guess you have to really like McDonald’s, but it’s definitely a fun contest. It’s basically McDonald’s for life!
Here are the details:
Beginning December 5, every order completed in the McDonald’s app for at least $1 will enter customers into a contest to win a McGold Card. Three winners will get a special card that earns them free McDonald’s for life. Plus, each winner will get three extra cards to give away for a total of 12 cards being won.
The McGold Card has been around for years, with some heavy hitters reportedly holding them, including Warren Buffett, Bill Gates and actor Rob Lowe. In 2018, McDonald’s issued a few gold cards during a contest, but the winner was eligible to get “only” two free meals a week for 50 years. That rule applies to this year’s promotion too, which ends on December 25.
Couple Drives Hours to Adopt "Depressed" Cat
Sometimes you see something on the internet that just grabs you. That was the case with one couple in Maryland, near Baltimore, who saw a Tweet about a cat. The cat’s name is Fishtopher (think Christopher) and he was one of the pets from Homeward Bound Pet Adoption Center in Blackwood, NJ that was featured on PetFinder, an app that helps humans find their furry forever friends.
Over the Thanksgiving holiday, the tweet absolutely blew up garnering hundreds of thousands of likes and retweets. Among those moved by the post was 22-year old Laura Folts of Baltimore, Maryland. Folts told Business Insider that she and her boyfriend Tanner Callahan spoke of adopting a pet. When Folts saw this post, she sent it to Callahan as a joke, but Callahan did not laugh. Instead, he submitted an application.
Once the couple heard back from the shelter, they woke early and drove from Baltimore to Blackwood, arriving an hour before the shelter opened. They knew there was a lot of attention on this cat and they wanted to be first in line. Their efforts paid off.
Laura and Tanner were the lucky couple to adopt Fishtopher, who now has his own Twitter account (below) and is using the publicity to help other friends find their fur-ever homes.
