Have you heard of the name Mac McClung? He is the newest NBA Slam Dunk champion.
You may remember his YouTube videos when he was in high school. He was an internet sensation for his jumping ability and him schooling other players in high school.
He started his college career at Georgetown then transferred to Texas Tech. He went undrafted in 2021 but signed with the Los Angeles Lakers during Summer League and played for the Lakers G League team, the South Bay Lakers. He then signed a 10 day contract with the Chicago Bulls and was designated to their G League Club, the Windy City Bulls. After his 10 day contract expired, he signed back with the Lakers and then signed with the Warriors.
He then joined the Philadelphia G League team, the Delaware Blue Coats for the 2022-2023 season. The Sixers signed him to a 2-way contract on Valentine’s Day and he was in the Slam Dunk Contest 4 days later representing the Sixers.
He is the first Sixer to ever win the Dunk Contest. Other former Sixers who were in the NBA Dunk Contest are Julius Erving, Shelton Jones, Clarence Weatherspoon, Tim Perry, Jerry Stackhouse, Larry Hughes, and Andre Iguodala.
