Jalen Hurts Throws Shade: QB Cools Philly Schools with Huge Donation
Say what you want about him, but Philadelphia Eagles QB Jalen Hurts is a hero in these parts. And the kids of Philadelphia are lucky to have him.
The guy is an absolute stud. You know you are a local hero when you go above and beyond and that is exactly what Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts does every time. He makes donations, provides mentorship, and continues to exceed expectations.
Jalen Hurts did it again
Last week, Philly’s resident stud Jalen Hurts did it again when he made an incredibly generous donation to the Philadelphia School District. Why? Because kids are hot and when they are hot they can’t learn properly. Hurts’ $200-thousand donation to the School District of Philadelphia will be used to purchase air conditioning units for ten schools.
According to WHYY, Hurts was watching the news toward the end of the school year last year, when the temperatures in Philadelphia reached over 90-degrees, and he saw that schools had to close because of the heat. And he knew there was something he could do about it. So, just in time for summer 2024’s inevitable heat wave, Hurts made his sizable donation for the kids. Shortened school days puts an added strain on parents. And when students are out of school, they can find themselves in trouble. According to school authorities, $200-thousand will pay for more than 300 a/c units that will significantly improve the learning environment for students at the schools.
“With great power comes great responsibility.”
Jalen Hurts is one man who it taking that responsibility very seriously, yet takes no credit for his work. Two years ago, Hurts visited William Nebinger Elementary school in the Bella Vista neighborhood of Philadelphia. While there he fielded questions from students and provided guidance and wisdom from his own personal experience. According to USAToday, upon leaving Hurts said of the students:
“They’ll never realize the impact that they had on me today. Everything going in their lives, they’ll never realize that. They deserve all the credit. Kids. They got so much power.”
