These two lovebirds met in Las Vegas back in February of 2019 and got up and moved to Philadelphia right after their wedding in 2022. But with two PODS, two cars and U-Haul, the most logical thing to do was to drive both cars across the country with the U-Haul in tow and ship those pods to the east coast! So that’s exactly what they did.
With the help of family, they were able to make the twelve state journey across the country to land in Jeff Kurkjian’s hometown of Darnestown, Maryland and later continue onto Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania, where they currently reside after Jeff started working for 92.5 XTU.

They ended up staying in Colorado for a wedding, Kansas City for the barbecue, Columbus for the beer and then Maryland to see Jeff’s parents! After Maryland, TECHNICALLY Jeff and Emily went on their honeymoon (you can see those photos on our website) but then went on to Bala Cynwyd where they currently reside and are renting an apartment with their cute pup, Pirate.
Let’s break this down stop by stop and give our thoughts on each of the states we listed above! Pictures, thoughts and so much more await you with this starting with a state Jeff and Emily lived in for quite some time!
1) Nevada
We started in Las Vegas, baby! I lived there for four and a half years and Emily and I lived together for two and a half years of that. Emily’s family still lives there so a piece of our heart will always be there as well!
2) Arizona
Just a quick drive into Arizona, first state outside of Nevada that we had a chance to hit.
3) Utah
Man does that look exactly like the Arizona picture? We were truly in the desert. “Life Elevated!”
4) Colorado
This was our first official stop on the cross country trip and boy was it beautiful!
The cool part about this stop on the trip is that they also went to a friend’s wedding in Denver while making their cross country trip!
5) Kansas
Back on the road making our cross country trip and BOY is Kansas flat and filled with a lot of nothingness so here is a picture of our dog being adorable in the back of the car.
6) Missouri
Back in Denver, we were joined by some pretty amazing people. Emily’s parents, Sheri and Alex, along with Emily’s twin brother Alesio and his girlfriend, Meg!
Oh and don’t worry, Pirate made it to the arch as well!
7) Illinois
The cool thing is the Arch is located in St. Louis, Missouri but can also be seen from the Illinois side which is just across the Mississippi River!
And even Pirate wanted to check out the Mississippi River, Emily wasn’t too please with the quality of the drinking water for her pup!
8) Indiana
The Hoosier State! Fun fact, it was called “The Hoosier State” because “There was once a contractor named Hoosier employed on the Louisville and Portland Canal who preferred to hire laborers from Indiana” according to IN.gov.
9) Ohio
We actually went towards the southern end of Ohio and staying the night in Columbus. Fun fact, I used to live in Cleveland, Ohio, where I had my very first radio job!
10) West Virginia
ALMOST HEAVEN, WEST VIRGINIA!!! On this trip, you BRIEFLY dip into West Virginia between Ohio and Pennsylvania.
11) Maryland
The gang stopped to see Jeff’s parents, Tim and Kathy, and of course his adorable nephew as well! They had a party welcoming them back to the east coast and here are some of the amazing photos thanks to Aionia Photography!

12) Pennsylvania! (Finally)
WE MADE IT!! We moved into our place in Bala Cynwyd on June 28th!
