The Andie Summers Show

Serve and protect, it’s what officers do. But what about icing and frosting a cake? Not in the job description, wouldn’t you agree? Not for this officer.

Karen Ressegieu woke up very early Saturday morning in order to finish making cakes for a funeral when she got some terrible news. She went to wake her husband, Jim, and he was unresponsive. She called 911.

La Vista Officer John Danderand responded to the call and unfortunately had to declare the 79-year-old deceased. They were married for 56 years. But that’s when something strange happened. Here’s what Danderand said…

“She had a lot going on, she had some neighbors stopping by trying to figure things out, get information from her,” he recalls. “And she had mentioned about three times that she had to get a cake frosted, they were supposed to attend a funeral that morning.”

She wanted to finish icing the cakes for the funeral she had already planned on attending. How selfless!
