He recently told Backstage Country the following after playing a trio of sold-out shows in Las Vegas.

“You have to be the captain of your own ship. You have to have a lot of faith in your creator, the Almighty. And then you just have to pray for direction. You just have to go with your gut and pray for direction until you finally get everything in the right place. And I feel like we’re there.”

Toby is known for hitting the road hard. Doing tons of shows for fans and our troops. That work ethic was instilled at a young age because of his parents.

“…Everybody talks about how fortunate or lucky, or blessed, you are. Well, that’s really good and fine, but if you get up every day and work hard, you’ll get lucky, you know?”

Toby’s rise to stardom was fast. But you never really make it to the top until a legend gives you praise. Toby’s first song climbed the charts after a flight attendant handed a record rep a cassette tape of Toby’s music. Eventually, Toby found himself on the George Jones show where the country music legend sang along with Toby.

  • Toby And Military Shows:

Toby’s patriotism was larger than life. Toby was well known for his commitment to the USO, a value instilled in him by his father who was a veteran. Toby never took a penny when performing for our troops.

“I made so many great relationships through the military. And, you know, I went for two weeks, the first time to honor my dad. And ten years later, 180 shows. Now I’m doing it for those people, you know what I mean? It’s like two weeks of my life is not that much to ask to serve.”
