A shore landmark has been reduced to rubble. Jack’s Place, a fixture in Avalon for nearly 100 years and closed down in 2017, met the wrecking ball just before Memorial Day weekend.
The local watering hole, which was previously known as The Black Eagle, Gallagher’s Pub and Meaney’s, was a favorite spot for locals and those traveling down the shore from Philly and the burbs.
As a baby DJ cutting my teeth in South Jersey, I spent many nights at Jack’s, hosting station events or hoisting ales with friends.
Gone but not forgotten. See ya Jack’s!
