This is another place that's not too far from where I cantor every weekend at the National Shrine Of St. John Neumann.
A lot of my friends have told me about South Jazz Kitchen, which is just blocks away from "The Met" on Broad Street but I never got to visit until now.
First let's talk about the food, their take on Southern cuisine is phenomenal and South Jazz Kitchen's brunch menu did not disappoint. In fact for the first time since doing this blog, I was in a "food coma!!!"
Their Sunday Brunch features such amazing dishes like "the Cornbread Skillet." Their "Southern Breakfast" will satisfy the biggest appetite with scrambled eggs, three kinds of meat, potatoes, grits and a biscuit.
For starters, I had the"South Bread Board" which has four kinds of bread (Grandma Evans roll, strawberry basil loaf, cheddar biscuit and corn muffin) and two kinds of butter (honey butter & chicken skin butter..yes you read that right) plus their house preserves.
Then I had for my appetizer "Fried Green Tomatoes with a Shrimp Remoulade" and their awesome take on Chicken and Waffles which has that "stick to your ribs" factor!!!!!
As for the space, it has a nice vibe with a bar, dining hall and my favorite part "the Jazz club" which has a great musical line-up most nights of the week. One of these days being a singer I gotta do their "Classic Jazz Jams" which happens on most Tuesday nights.
The Sunday Jazz Brunch is no exception with two sets of live music and features a dear friend I met doing a musical cattle call in Glenside a few years ago who's very big on the jazz and cabaret scene, the Paula Johns Trio. Her musical stylings with the trio made my brunch complete.
So if you got a big appetite for brunch, dinner and live jazz music. Come check out what's happening at South Jazz Kitchen!!!!!
