This could be the future of automobile maintenance.
(Photo by Chris McGrath/Getty Images)Waiting at the auto service could be an all day experience, especially when it comes to getting your tires changed.
Victor Darolfi, the founder of America's Tires talked with techcrunch.com about a simple thought he had. "I sat at America's Tires for three hours and thought, hey we use robots to put tires on at the factory," he explains. "Why don't we bring robots into the service industry?"
RoboTire, a robotics company in the Bay Area has developed technology to change car tires in a fraction of the time using robotics.
Darolfi explains that it would normally take about an hour for a human operator to do a set of four tires. With robotics, they could do a set of four tires "put in to pull out" in 10 minutes.
Who knows what's next in the mechanical field next time you get your car maintained.
