La Fete, a Two Night Sit Down Feast Coming to The Mann
In recent years, Philadelphia magazine and Foobooz hosted “Philly Cooks,” a culinary event which featured food from some of the top restaurants in Philly, as well as cocktails from the city’s best bartenders. But as so many things have changed the past two years, so has the event, which is now known as “La Fête,” a two-night sit-down feast which will feature some of the city’s top chefs. The affair will take place both Monday and Tuesday, May 9th and 10th from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. outdoors on the top of the hill at The Mann Music Center at 5201 Parkside Avenue in Philly’s West Fairmount Park neighborhood.
The new format will be much smaller than that of Philly Cooks, with only 250 attendees per night, along with just 10 restaurants (five per night) presenting a five-course seated dinner in what Philadelphia Magazine is calling the fanciest picnic the city has ever seen. There will be unique, curated, family-style experiences which will highlight the remarkable talents of each group of chefs, while celebrating the resilience, fun, and flavors of the city we call home.
Among this year’s participating restaurants and brands include Middle Child Clubhouse (Matt Cahn, Adam Sosnowik), Hardena (Diana Widjojo), Irwin’s (Michael Ferreri), Wilder (Brett Naylor), and Honeysuckle Provisions (Omar Tate) on Night 1, and Kalaya (Chutatip “Nok” Suntaranon), River Twice (Randy Rucker), Càphê Roasters (Thu Pham, Jacob Trinh), Rex at the Royal (Aaron Paik), and Hummingbird Island (Tevon Tyrell) on Night 2.
La Fête will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a cocktail hour featuring premium Bacardí brand spirits and hors d’oeuvres from Di Bruno Bros. Dinner will run from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., and the after party will go until 9:30 p.m. with desserts from Whole Foods Market and specialty cocktails offered in the garden under the stars. Tickets to each night can be purchased by visiting http://phillymag.com/lafete/#restaurants. Private tables (4 or 6 people) cost $200 per person while tickets for communal tables are $185. The event is vaccination only for attendees.
The event is presented by Philadelphia magazine and Foobooz, and sponsors include PNC Private Bank, Bacardí, Grey Goose Vodka, Celebrity Cruises, Victory Brewing Company, Whole Foods Market, Di Bruno Bros., and Francis Ford Coppola Winery, with The Hospitality Assistance Response of Pennsylvania (HARP) as the beneficiary.
