Jelly Roll reacts to a toddler going bonkers over his song - and it is so sweet.

There is a little girl in Indiana who might just be Jelly Roll's biggest little fan. I have never seen anything like it. This toddler freaks out when she hears Jelly Roll, and his reaction is just as sweet.

CMA Champ

He is the reigning CMA New Artist of the Year and spreads his sunshine everywhere he goes.

Jelly Roll is the textbook example of "you can't judge a book by its cover." His appearance and face tattoos might give you the impression:

DO NOT APPROACH

But that could not be further from the truth. Over the past year, I have had the opportunity to spend some time with this country newcomer, and each time he has blown me away. Jelly is warm, kind, and smart as a whip. He is comfortable with who he is and where he came from, and his personality sucks you right in and makes you feel good about yourself. Dolly Parton put it best, as it is enshrined in the Country Music Hall of Fame:

"Country Music just ordinary stories, told by ordinary people, in an extraordinary way."

There is something incredibly extraordinary about Jelly Roll. Just look at his speech from the CMAs ...

"There is something poetic about a 39 year old man winning new artist of the year."

Over the past year, Jelly Roll has won the love and admiration of country music lovers, both young and old, all over the world. But there is one young fan, one very young fan, that will steal your heart.

Meet Serenity

Tiffany Appell is a mom in Indiana. She had a beautiful little girl named Serenity who was born premature and only weighed about 3 pounds at birth. But, just like Jelly Roll, the girl is a fighter.

The odds were against her, but something inside told her to keep going.

Jelly's story is similar, believe it or not. He was also born into circumstances he had to fight to get out of. Growing up, Jelly made a lot of decisions that landed him in a heap of trouble, including jail. But it is that life experience that draws us to him. He has lived on both sides of the tracks and allows himself the vulnerability to share those stories with his audience.

The odds were against him, but something told him to keep going.

Today, Serenity is a beautiful, thriving young lady with an appreciation for the struggle of those who came before her. Just watch this toddler go bonkers when she hears "Need a Favor" on the radio:

"OMG this might be the cutest video I've ever seen."

Big thanks to Tiffany, Serenity's mom, for allowing us to share her video. This is the stuff country music is made of.

Jelly Roll won three awards at this year's (4/2) CMT Music Awards. The one-time rapper recently scored his first country music chart-topper "Son of A Sinner." Born and raised in Antoich (right outside of Nashville), Jelly Roll has won the hearts of his fellow country stars and the heart of country music fans worldwide.

He made his first on the CMT Music Awards performance, joined by a full gospel choir, with his song "Need A Favor." That was followed by an enthusiastic standing ovation by the whole house.

Jelly Roll's awards came before his new album, Whitsitt Chapel, was released on June 2. Titled after the church the Antioch native grew up attending, the debut full-length Country project on BMG/Stoney Creek Records features 13 tracks.

Before his current time in country music, Jelly was known as a Southern Hip Hop artist. Beginning in 2010, he collaborated with Lil Wyte, Struggle Jennings, Yelawolf, Tech N9ne, and Ryan Upchurch. His 2010 collaboration "Pop Another Pill" with Memphis rapper Lil Wyte reached over 6.3 million YouTube views and started his career.

A record label executive in Nashville told me they were looking for the Post Malone of country music and found that in Jelly. His real name is Jason DeFord, and his Jelly Roll nickname comes from his mother, who called him Jelly Roll when he was a young, as he said, a "chubby" kid.

As Jelly's star continues to rise, we take a look at his last few years in the national spotlight.
