Kelsea Ballerini Releases Love Letter ‘Sorry Mom’
Kelsea Ballerini has released a new song and music video for “Sorry Mom” from her forthcoming Patterns album, which will be out on October 25.
Kelsea posted a bunch of new photos for the new song on her Instagram, including a photo of herself with her mom, Carla. She captioned the sweet post, “‘Sorry Mom,’ a love letter to the growth of mother and daughter to woman and woman, is OUT in the world, and I couldn’t be more proud to share this song with you. It was one of the first songs i wrote for this album, alongside my 4 dear brilliant magical friends and collaborators (who I had the honor of making all of Patterns with), and we hope you love it.”
The song’s first verse and chorus lyrics are: “Sorry, Mom, I smelled like cigarettes / And my eyes were Casa red /With a poundin’ in my head / Showin’ up again on Sunday mornin’ / You just made the eggs And turned your head / I turned out alright / So you can sleep good at night / Maybe I ran all the red lights / Maybe we got into a few fights / It’s a different cloth we cut / But underneath wе’re the same blood /So I know it took a littlе tough love / To become the woman that you’re proud of.”

Ballerini is always looking to live her best life and share her story. Last week, she posted lessons she’s learned in the last year. In an Insta slide where a fan asked what she learned this year, Kelsea wrote a short list of what has learned:
“It’s okay to have a day off. “
“To actually take my vitamins.”
“Say yes to the things that scare you.”
“How to cook a great steak.”
“How to seek the truth within yourself and the world around you.”
“Nothing is really that deep.”
In another slide, a fan asked how she stays happy, and Ballerini replied with a photo of her and her dog Dibbs and wrote, “House and home are beyond full with this fur baby.”
Kelsea has been working to complete her next album and has released a song from it. She plans to release the full album in the coming months. Her last album, Rolling Up The Welcome Mat, which she released within weeks of letting her record label know it was done, was nominated for Album of the Year at the CMAs and the ACMs as well as for Best Country Album at the GRAMMYS.
