Chris Young Is ‘Lucky’ To Have His Platform
Chris Young won the USA TV competition Nashville Star in 2006, making him a star now for 18 years. He has consistently scored number one songs, is now headlining arena tours each year, and has a handful of awards.
He’s in the top ten this week on the country charts with “Young Love & Saturday Nights.”
We talked with Chris last week about his latest album and his career success. He told us, “I would love to give you whatever there is for me being around this long and still putting out some amazing music and I know that it’s mine, and take that with a grain of salt. I have to have that proven by the people that are listening to it.”
He pauses looks, up then smiles, “I’m putting out some really good music, so until I feel like I can’t anymore, I’m lucky to have the platform.”
Young concluded, “You can put out great music but maybe it doesn’t get to the people. That’s not up to me.”
RELATED: Kane Brown Never Thought Chris Young Would Do This
Kane Brown is a country music superstar these days and is at the top of his game on a headlining stadium tour this summer.
Last week (8/16/24), when Kane’s tour played T-Mobile Park in Seattle, one of his opening acts was his friend, Chris Young.
Close to ten years ago, Chris helped Brown, a newcomer at the time, find his way around Nashville.
When we talked to Young recently before the big show, we asked about opening for his buddy, and he shared his thoughts. He said, “I am very much looking forward to that show with KB. You know, he opened up for me on my tour, and the fact that I get a chance to not only return the favor but have the other side of things and hang out with him, I just love it.”
Chris added with a grin, “No one could be happier about his success than me. So I was like, ‘Yeah, I don’t do many of those (opening slots) anymore, but yeah, I’ll do that one.'”
Young’s last opening slot was for Garth Brooks. He said, “That should tell you something right there that’s the last one that I did.”
The country star’s new album came out earlier this year, and he’s already taken one of the songs (“Young Love & Saturday Night”) to the top 10 of the country charts.
As fans get acquainted with the new music, Chris tells us there is a lot more where that came from. He said, “I’ve got enough songs to make three albums right now on my phone.”
