FSU Fan Deletes Twitter After Dog Poop Bet Backfires
That awkward moment when you talk a big game but don’t follow through. A Florida State fan quietly deleted his X (formerly Twitter) account after boldly claiming he’d eat dog poop if his team lost to Boston College. Well, they did lose… and he’s nowhere to be found on social media.
Florida State University was determined to prove a point this season. This is especially true after being left out of the College Football Playoff last year despite an undefeated 13-0 record. However, their Orange Bowl game against No. 6 Georgia ended in a historic loss. By halftime, Florida State was down 42-3, and they ultimately lost 63-3 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens.
The game took place just weeks after Florida State was controversially excluded from the playoff, making them the first undefeated team from a major conference to be left out since the playoff system began in 2014. Instead, the playoff committee chose Michigan (13-0), Washington (13-0), Texas (12-1), and Alabama (12-1) as the top four teams.
Unfortunately, it was a rough start to the college football season for Florida State fans when the Seminoles flew to Dublin, Ireland, only to be upset by Georgia Tech in the week 0 opener. Some fans even blamed the loss on “jet lag,” conveniently forgetting that Georgia Tech had to make the same flight to Ireland. Despite the painful loss, many Florida State supporters were convinced it was just a fluke and believed the team would bounce back on their home turf against ACC rival Boston College.
One particularly confident fan was so sure of Mike Norvell’s squad that he made a bold proclamation “If Florida State loses to BC this weekend, I will eat dog s— out of a red solo cup with a spoon and post a video of me doing it. Book it!”
As the game unfolded, things took a turn for the worse. Florida State found themselves down by two scores midway through the fourth quarter, and people on X started reminding the fan of his bold promise. “Has anyone heard from @321nole this evening? While everyone was eagerly waiting to see if this ridiculous act would actually happen, there was just one problem. The fan deleted his entire Twitter account midway through the game.
