In other Wallen news, Gibbs High School, his East Tennessee alma mater, has named their baseball field “Morgan Wallen Field.”
Jason Webster, the high school’s principal, said in a statement, “Morgan played baseball at Gibbs during his time. He’s part of the 2010 state championship team, and if you go to his concerts, you hear him speak fondly of his time with Gibbs Baseball coach Davis. He speaks very fondly of his time with the coach, and you see him wearing a Gibbs Eagles baseball jersey a lot of times.”
Webster also noted Morgan’s ongoing efforts at the school, saying, “He’s been a positive promoter of Gibbs and has given back throughout his time after high school. We’re thankful for the things that he does, not just for Gibbs High School but for Knox County schools and the community at large. He’s a very giving person, and we’re excited to do this for him.”
The Morgan Wallen Foundation donated $35,000 to the baseball and band program. The organization also donated another $140,000 for renovations at the Gibbs Ruritan Park.
