Blake Shelton Songs: A Journey Through His Musical Career
Blake Shelton is a force in country music. Thanks to his role as a judge on NBC’s The Voice, he’s a celebrity outside of the world of country music.
Blake is an Okie who comes from Ada, Oklahoma, and moved to Nashville as a teenager. He made his debut in 2001 with the song “Austin,” which is considered a classic today. He has charted 40 top 10 singles, 28 number-one songs, and nine Grammy Award nominations. He has come a long way since his first paid performance, which was at the age of 15 when he earned $40 performing at a theater in Ada. His musical influences include Earl Thomas Conley, John Anderson, and many of the hit makers of the early 80s.
In early 2025, Shelton will make his debut in a residency in Las Vegas at Caesar’s Palace at the Coliseum in February 2025. When asked about the show, he said he wanted to do the show a little bit like Garth Brooks’ Sin City shows: in a casual atmosphere, playing his songs intimately to fans.
Blake chatted about the new dates with People magazine. He said, “It’s been swirling for years now, and ever since the idea was first floated about opening an Ole Red in Las Vegas, this conversation has been happening too.”
Shelton said Brooks inspired the decision to hit Vegas. He offered, “He played songs that he grew up loving and made him fall in love with music. I don’t want to just rip somebody off, but I do love the idea of doing something that you wouldn’t normally get to see out on tour.” He noted that he has “got to figure out what that is” and will now start thinking about how it would be different than something he would do on tour.
He wrote to his seven million followers in part on Instagram, “I’ve been so excited to share this news with y’all. VEGAS!!!!! We’re coming to The Colosseum at @caesarspalace this February.”

Blake‘s early career in Nashville was quite successful. His debut single on Giant Records was called “Austin,” and that song went straight to number one. He’s had other hits early on in his career, like “Ol Red,” which he eventually named his bar after. Shelton‘s early albums included The Dreamer in 2003 and Bar and Grill in 2004.

Evolution of Blake Shelton’s Music
Blake has evolved as an artist and country music superstar over the years. When he first came on the scene he had that mullet, which is now is associated with ’90s country music. He wore a wig of that mullet in one of his new songs, “No Body,” in which he danced to 1990s country in the music video.
His most recent work includes several duets and number-one country songs with his wife, Gwen Stefani, including “Happy Anywhere.” His latest song is with Post Malone and is featured on Malone’s new F-1 Trillion project that came out in August. The song is called “Pour Me A Drink,” and the two even got together for a popular music video of the song.

The Enduring Appeal of Blake Shelton’s Music
Blake Shelton has given so much to country music in his over 20 years of being here in Nashville and making music, so many of his songs are anthems for friends and fans. He’s a multiple ACM and CMA winner he won Male Vocalist of the Year in 2012, and he’s able to connect with listeners through relatable, lyrics and genuine delivery. When he took over as a coach in 2011 on The Voice, his career skyrocketed. He stayed on the show until 2023.
In one of my many interviews with Blake over the years, he told me what country music meant to him. He said, “Country music is everything to me, and the history of country music is everything to me. And I don’t know everything about it. There’s constantly more to learn all the time, and I’m constantly surprised by things I learn about relationships, and artists, and promoters, and managers. And a lot of that stuff is tied into the Grand Ole Opry. It’s such an important part of country music and not only country music history, but I think what makes country music different than any other genre.”
Shelton was made a member of the Grand Ole Opry in 2010. He made his Opry debut in May of 2001.
