The Andie Summers Show

It’s that time of year again.  It’s time to dress up as your favorite superhero, TV character, or some sorta witty costume.

Are you a couples costume type of person?  My wife has been begging me to do a couples costume but the only problem is we never have anywhere to go.  We want one of our friends to throw a house party like we did back in the day, but everyone has kids now so it wouldn’t be that kind of party anymore.

Halloween is not just for the kids.  Adults get all decked up and hit up Halloween parties, especially college kids.  I remember doing group costumes in college and they would crush! You never just had 1 Halloween party in college.  You had to wear that costume for 3 straight weekends and it was always awesome. When adults do Halloween parties, you have 2 choices. You can either go out to a bar that is having a costume party or go to a friend’s house where everyone dresses up.  Most likely there is a prize for the Best Costume or Best Couples Costume.

Whether you go to a party at a bar or a friend’s house, you need a quality Halloween playlist. Sorta like Christmas music, Halloween music is only good for about a month out of the year and then it just doesn’t make sense.  I would say more Halloween songs can get a pass being played outside of the season than Christmas music which would be weird to play in April.  I’m not judging because I love a good Johnny Mathis Christmas song in the Spring.

So when it comes to getting a Halloween playlist together, you have to go with the classics but of course mix in a random song from time to time.  You know every single Halloween playlist has to include Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” or it’s not a Halloween playlist.

Here are … songs to complete your Halloween Party Playlist.

  • Michael Jackson - "Thriller"

This song is a Halloween party playlist staple. The song is so legendary and it’s guaranteed to get everyone up and dancing.

  • Warren Zevon - "Werewolves of London"

You can probably tell why this song has been added to this list.  The word werewolves!  What other song has Werewolves in the title?

  • Boris Pickett - "Monster Mash"

A classic Halloween song.  This is one of those songs that would be weird playing any other time other than Halloween.

  • Ray Parker Jr. - "Ghostbusters"

A classic song from a classic movie.  This song has to make the playlist and should be played at high volumes.  Who you gonna call?

  • Rockwell - "Somebody's Watching Me"

You can play this song in any season because it’s just so good.  It has a creepy Halloween vibe so it definitely makes the list.

  • Harry Belafonte - "Day O (Banana Boat Song)"

This song makes the list solely because of the movie Beetlejuice.  The creepy dinner scene and this song is playing… So good!

  • Harry Belafonte - "Jump In The Line"

See the song above and this is the reason it makes the list.  Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice!

  • Stevie Wonder - "Superstition"

What a great song! Super catchy and such a great beat.  Superstition is the way!

  • Whodini - "Freaks Come Out At Night"

You need some good songs to dance to while also giving off the Halloween vibe.  This is one of those songs!

  • Rihanna - "Disturbia"

Rihanna has skills! She puts out classic pop music that can get a dance party started.  Let’s add this one to the list!

  • Duran Duran - "Hungry Like The Wolf"

This a classic Duran Duran track that can be played at any time during the year.  Since the song has “Wolf” in the title, you can pop this one into rotation.

  • Rick James - "Superfreak"

Rick James must go on the list.  This song and video are both hilarious and also super catchy!

  • Blue Oyster Cult - "Don't Fear The Reaper"

Blue Oyster Cult created a classic when they made “Don’t Fear The Reaper”.  This song makes every Halloween playlist!

  • Oingo Boingo - "Dead Man's Party"

Of course, this one makes the list.  Look at the title alone.  Oingo Boingo had a few hits in the 80’s and they got odder and odder.

  • Oingo Boingo - "Weird Science"

Another Oingo Boingo classic! “Weird Science” makes the list well because it’s weird!

  • Bow Wow Wow - "I Want Candy"

Who doesn’t want to eat all of the Halloween candy?  I’m not sure this song means that but it’s still a cool song.  Let’s add it to the list!

  • The Righteous Brothers - "Unchained Melody"

I went back and forth on this one.  It’s a slow sad song but it is from the movie Ghost so I had to throw it on the list.

  • Talking Heads - "Psycho Killer"

The title alone makes the song a Halloween song.  It has a super weird vibe but isn’t that what we are looking for?

  • Charlie Daniels - "Devil Went Down To Georgia"

I had to add a country song to the list.  Since it has the word Devil in the title, I added it to the list!
