Dan + Shay are back and they sure want everyone to know they are more ready than ever. Dan + Shay shocked the crowd by performing shirtless during a sold-out show over the weekend. The duo have been doing a few one-off shows to get comfortable being in front of their fans again and test some of their new music. In fact, Dan + Shay will be performing on Friday, August 4 a The Hard Rock in Atlantic City.
We knew that something was brewing for the chart-topping duo when last month it was revealed they would be the first-ever coaching duo on The Voice. Blake Shelton left and The Voice added country legend Reba, then surprise, Dan + Shay are headed to the popular competition show. We all know it’s rare guest judges just take a chair unless they are promoting something so we were eager to see what Dan + Shay were up to.
Shay has been very open and honest about his recent fitness journey. Shay revealed he was in a pretty dark place so he quit drinking and started working out more and eating healthier and lost over 50 lbs. Over the weekend Dan + Shay released an almost 5-minute mini-movie called “The Drive” where they discussed what happened over the last two years. They revealed they didn’t speak for over 4 months and were very close to breaking up. Dan said he was in a very bad place mentally and was neglecting his mental health and his marriage. The duo met up after not speaking to discuss the future of the band and realized they still had music inside them and wanted to share it with their fans and the country music world. They clearly have been having fun in their newfound confidence and I have a feeling we are going to be hearing about an upcoming tour fairly soon. Their new album drops this September with a new single already out. Welcome back Dan + Shay. We’ve missed you!
