Country music has a lot of award shows and a lot more stars. Unfortunately, not everyone can get nominated every year. Still, some of this year’s snubs were especially surprising. This year’s CMA Nominations surprised many country fans more than usual this year. Each of these superstars had a great year, but for some reason, the CMAs didn’t recognize them.
Last year, Keith Urban and Luke Bryan were among the biggest snubs. The year before, it was Sam Hunt, Kelsea Ballerini, the Highwomen and Dierks Bentley (and Doug D. Douglason!). In 2019, it was Kane Brown and Luke Bryan. That’s just how it goes. Every year, some of he biggest stars, even those with huge projects, don’t get nominated in obvious categories. Sometimes, they don’t get nominated at all.
The 56th Annual CMA Awards will air live from Nashville on November 9, 2022 on ABC TV.
Kane Brown: Not nominated at all.
This guy is one of country music’s biggest stars today, selling out big shows and hitting number ones on the charts with everything he releases. With his new album ‘Different Man’ just out, it’s really a shock that he isn’t nominated for any CMA Awards this year.Maren Morris: Not nominated for 2022 Female Vocalist.
Surprisingly, CMA Female Vocalist winner (2020) Maren Morris isn’t even a nominee in the category this year. She’s had a great year with her new album, ‘Humble Quest’ (which did get an album nomination), and she’s been back on the road singing her heart out across the country each night.Kelsea Ballerini: Not nominated for 2022 Female Vocalist.
2022 has really been Kelsea’s year as she was a major news headline wearing Shania Twain’s dress and performing a Twain classic on the recent ACM Honors. With a new album out this month, it’s really a surprise she wasn’t in the Female Vocalist category this year at the CMAs.Eric Church: Not nominated for Entertainer.
Having finally won the CMA’s coveted Entertainer trophy in 2020, Church has continued to sell out multiple nights in various cities with his major tour. It seems odd that he is not in the Entertainer category at all this year.Keith Urban: Not nominated at all.
I know country music has to make room for the new superstars that come in each year, but for Keith not to get any nominations this year is just wrong. I hope he at least gets a performance slot because if he isn’t at the show, we will surely miss him and his Oscar-winning wife Nicole Kidman beside him in the front row.
