Hollywood Mourns Matthew Perry’s Sudden Death

It was announced on October 28th, 2023 that actor Matthew Perry died at age 54. According to the Los Angeles Times, Perry was found dead in a hot tub at his home in Los Angeles. Police have reported that there have been no signs of foul play. “We are heartbroken by the tragic loss of our beloved son and brother,” Perry’s family wrote in the aftermath.

Matthew Perry’s Autobiography

In 2022, Perry wrote a memoir about his addiction, sobriety, and the time he almost died titled, Friends, Lovers, and The Big Terrible Thing. He talks about his past romantic relationships and how we managed to sabotage them. While dating Julia Roberts, Perry was in awe that the beautiful movie star wanted to be with him. He knew that it could never last and was constantly doubting himself. To save himself from the embarrassment, he broke up with Roberts before she had the chance to do that to him. Matthew Perry predicted his death would be a “shock but no surprise.” This is due to his addiction

Matthew Perry’s Chandler Bing

Matthew Perry and Chandler Bing have been described as one and the same. The Chandler Bing we saw on our TV screens was much like the actor who played him. They were both sarcastic, charming, self-deprecating, and always looking for the next joke. Show creators, Marta Kauffman and David Crane released a statement saying, “From the day we first heard him embody the role of Chandler Bing, there was no one else for us.” They called the moment they heard of the tragic news, “This truly is The One Where Our Hearts Are Broken,” playing on the series famous episode titles.
